A jib or jib arm is the horizontal or near-horizontal beam used in many types of crane to support the load clear of the main support. An archaic spelling is gib. Usually jib arms are attached to a vertical mast or tower or sometimes to an inclined boom.

Jib cranes are designed to have a hoist carrying arm (boom) which is mounted on a leg (mast) which in turn in either fixed on ground or on wall. The arm can rotate 360 degrees either electrically or manually with a slew chain. Jib cranes are of 2 types :- self-supporting pillar type or fixed wall bracket mounted type.
